The modern Tesla Cybertruck 2024 appears to have been delivered by extraterrestrials. It is rumoured to be capable of competing with popular pickup trucks. Tesla’s electric truck appears extremely durable, with a body composed of bulletproof stainless steel and sharp edges.
For 2024, two all-wheel-drive setups are being considered. A 600 horsepower Dual Motor variant and a Beast model with three electric motors totaling 834 horsepower. In upcoming 2025, Cybertruck with a single motor and rear-wheel drive is expected to join the group. According to Tesla, the Cybertruck has a 340-mile estimated driving range and is capable of towing up to 11,000 pounds. The electric truck is said to be able to add 128 to 136 miles of range in 15 minutes. When connected to a Tesla Supercharger.
What’s New for 2024 Tesla Cybertruck?
The pickup truck, one of the most popular body types in America, is now part of Tesla’s roster expansion. But from the start, it will have to contend with the Ford F-150 Lightning. The GMC Hummer EV, and the Rivian R1T.In addition, Chevy is introducing an electric Silverado. And the Ram 1500 REV is getting close to going into production.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
Depending on the trim and extras, the 2024 Tesla Cybertruck can cost anywhere from $81,895 to $101,985.
Up to the Cybertruck with rear-wheel drive, which will start at $62,985, for the upcoming model year. There are only two models available in the lineup: the Dual Motor and the Beast. We believe that driving range is the primary issue for most consumers. Therefore we recommend going with the less expensive Dual Motor model. Which will still be quite fast and offer a little bit more real-world range.
2024 Tesla Cybertruck EV Motor, Power, and Performance
Three distinct powerplant configurations will eventually be available for the Cybertruck. All-wheel drive will be available on launch in dual- and tri-motor configurations. A single-motor model with rear-wheel drive will be added to the portfolio for the 2025 model year. As of right moment, the Cybertruck Dual Motor produces 600 horsepower overall. With three motors totaling 834 horsepower, the Cybertruck Beast is ideal for those seeking the highest level of performance.
Every Cybertruck has a fully adjustable air suspension system that offers up to 17 inches of ground clearance and can be raised or lowered at any time. When you combine it with the Tesla pickup’s 35-degree approach and 28-degree departure angles, you may have a really strong off-road vehicle. The large Cybertruck feels surprisingly nimble when driving. When we took a test drive of a Founders Edition Beast, we discovered that its variable ratio steer-by-wire technology and rear-wheel steering made it easier to navigate in urban settings than a normal pickup truck.
2024 Tesla Cybertruck 0–60-MPH Times
According to reports, the 600-hp Dual Motor Cybertruck can hit 60 mph in just 3.9 ticks and achieve a maximum speed of 112 mph. We haven’t had an opportunity to test that version, but we have tried the tri-motor Beast, which produces 834 horsepower and reaches 60 mph in 2.6 seconds. It is therefore the fastest truck—and the fourth fastest EV—that we have yet tested. It reached 119 mph in 11.0 seconds to finish the quarter-mile. Interestingly, Tesla’s statements and the test results match exactly.
Towing and Payload Capacity
The maximum towing capacity of the dual- and tri-motor Cybertrucks is 11,000 pounds; the next single-motor model has a cap of 7500 pounds. Every Cybertruck’s six-by-four-foot composite cargo bed has a 2500 pound capacity.
Range, Charging, and Battery Life
We believe the 123.0-kWh battery of the Tesla Cybertruck Beast is shared with the Dual Motor model. When connected to a Supercharger, Tesla claims the latter can add 136 miles in 15 minutes, while the tri-motor model is claimed to add 128 miles in the same amount of time. The Beast’s battery required fifty minutes to fully charge from 10% to 50% during our testing.
The driving range of an electric truck varies depending on how many motors it has, but according to Tesla, the Cybertruck Beast can drive 301 miles on a single charge and Dual Motor models can travel 340 miles. These range claims increase to more than 440 and 470 miles, respectively, when a range-extending battery pack that may be added is installed and fits inside the trailer. At the moment the RWD Cybertruck, it’ll have an estimated 250 miles of range. We tested a Beast model without the range extender battery on our 75-mph highway fuel economy route and it managed a 250-mile result.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe
According to EPA regulations, the Cybertruck is a heavy-duty pickup truck, hence Tesla is exempt from reporting data to the government. But when we put the Beast model through our highway fuel-economy test at 75 mph, it traveled 250 miles on a single charge. Although it was 51 miles shy of Tesla’s estimated range of 301 miles, this is comparable to other electric trucks we’ve tested.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
People who felt the interior of the Tesla Model 3 was simple will have the same feeling when seeing the Cybertruck’s simple cabin. Considering the truck’s steeply sloping roofline, the rear seat has surprisingly ample headroom, though anyone taller than six feet may still find it cramped. During our testing, we discovered that the truck’s interior could accommodate 22 carry-on suitcases when the back seats were folded, but the front trunk (frunk) could only fit one. The Cybertruck’s cargo bed has a volume of 121 cubic feet, and within it is a secret storage space beneath the floor that can accommodate one more carry-on bag.
Infotainment and Connectivity
A large 18.5-inch touchscreen is installed in the dashboard’s center on every Cybertruck. For passengers in the backseat, there is an additional 9.4-inch touchscreen located on the rear of the center console. A Wi-Fi hotspot and SiriusXM satellite radio are standard. But owners expecting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be let down. Because none of the Tesla models come equipped with such amenities. The company notes that future over-the-air updates will activate the features, which include additional controls for the truck’s air suspension. Locks for the front and rear differentials, and other features that have been promised for the Cybertruck but haven’t been added to the system yet.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
Tesla’s contentious Autopilot driving function and other, more basic driver-assistance technologies will be available for every Cybertruck. Visit the websites of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for additional details regarding the Cybertruck’s crash test results. Important safety characteristics consist of:
- Typical automated emergency braking that detects pedestrians
- Normal lane-departure alert with assistance for lane-keeping
- Normal adaptive cruise control equipped with lane-centering functionality
